About

This regional, collaborative effort addresses the river management challenge of mitigating flood risk while maintaining or restoring ecological function. This effort began as a workshop on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Keene State College, New Hampshire. Talks and work sessions identified emerging techniques, knowledge gaps, and barriers and opportunities from both social and technological perspectives. Participants included engineers, regulators, planners, physical and social scientists, and business and environmental advocates across New England.

The results of this workshop can be used to identify themes that can be used in the following efforts: (a) creation of a relevant library of studies and reports; (b) promotion of relevant completed projects or research; (c) identification of relevant funding opportunities; (d) creation of a network of physical, economic, and social scientists and practitioners.

The workshop was organized by Denise Burchsted. Members of the planning committee included Tara Pratt and Tim Allen, all of Keene State College. David Chase, DRC Consulting, provided meeting facilitation.
